In the Annual Summary, insurers are classified into distribution styles of independent agent, exclusive-captive, direct and other based on reported marketing types by those insurers. That process, in short, is each insurer is categorized into a distribution style based on its disclosed marketing type whenever that distinction is needed. Whether for premiums and penetration or for other measures like commissions paid each insurer's data is categorized. More information on the details of the approached used for this categorization of policy-issuing insurers is explained in an appendix in the Annual P&C Marketplace Summary.
Big I associations that contracted for their Annual P&C Marketplace Summary control the use of their Summary. Associations can distribute it to members and make it available to others at their discretion, as long as attribution is properly provided for the source of the data, which is the A.M. Best Company and their Financial Suite as arranged and presented by Real Insurance Solutions Consulting. Independent insurance agencies purchasing a non-participating state's Annual P&C Marketplace Summary have the right to use their purchased Summary within their agency, for use in presentations to prospects, clients, or employees. However, those considering purchase should be aware that distribution beyond their agency, or to customers, is not allowed by the Agreement to purchase it.
Quarterly Summaries come out after Annual state-specific and United States Summaries are sent out, with Q1 coming in July, Q2 in September, and Q3 in December. The list of participating Big I state associations will be provided upon release of the July Q1 Summary. Interested persons can contact those states for access.

Each 2023 Quarterly P&C Premium Summary contains the following information.
Just like with the Annual Summaries, insurer data for Quarterly Summaries is based on classifying policy issuing insurers into the distribution styles of Independent Agent, Exclusive-Captive, Direct, and Other, based the marketing types reported by those insurers. The details of this approach is explained in depth in Appendix#2: Distribution Style Classifications in each Annual P&C Marketplace Summary.
Like with the Annual Summary, Big I associations that contracted for their Quarterly P&C Premium Summary control the use of their Summary. Associations can distribute it to members and make it available to others at their discretion, as long as attribution is properly provided for the source of the data, which is A.M. Best Company and their Financial Suite as arranged and presented by Real Insurance Solutions Consulting. Independent insurance agencies purchasing a non-participating state's Quarterly Premium Summary have the right to use their purchased Summary within their agency, for use in presentations to prospects, clients or employees. However, those considering purchase should be aware that distribution beyond their agency, or to customers, is not allowed by the Agreement to purchase it.
The 2023 state-Specific P&C Insurer SnapShot's reverse the macro industry, state-wide view of the P&C marketplace/industry, and instead focus on a specific P&C policy issuing insurer operating in a specific state. The SnapShots are designed as a compliment to the state-specific Annual, and Quarterly P&C Summaries, and are an independent agent's view of an insurer, looking at direct written premium and direct losses in a specific state. The specific insurer and parent group data is provided, along with United States data for perspective. They are available on an as requested basis from Real Insurance Solutions Consulting.

Each 2023 state-Specific P&C Insurer SnapShot contains the following information:
There is no classification of individual insurers into distribution styles, unlike the Annual and Quarterly Summaries that classify insurers into the distribution styles of Independent Agent, Exclusive-Captive, Direct, and Other. However, each insurer's disclosed marketing type is provided, along with license, largest line of business, and other attributes of that insurer.
Those purchasing a SnapShot can use it in their agency as they deem appropriate, but the SnapShot Purchase Agreement does limit distribution of the SnapShot's data and information to within the purchasing agency. It should not be distributed as a whole to other agencies, or to industry partners. Essentially, it is expected that individual agencies will purchase their own SnapShot if it would be of use to them in agency or carrier strategic discussions, or for client or prospect education. Purchasing agencies will not share more than limited parts of a SnapShot with other agencies, colleagues or others.
